First Century Burial Casts Doubt on Shroud of Turin

Researchers said Wednesday for the first time they have found what they believe to be pieces of a burial shroud from the time of Jesus. The find is of importance because tests on the shroud and the body it wrapped revealed the earliest proven case of leprosy in the Old City of Jerusalem.

Gibson, the excavation director, said the remains of the man covered in the cloth consisted of different wrappings for the body and the head, which was consistent with burial practices of the era. He also said research had shown that the weave of the cloth was a simple one, much different from the more complex Shroud of Turin's.

The first of their kind discovered in Jerusalem, the shroud fragments date from the same time of Christ's death, but are very different than the Shroud of Turin. One of the most controversial relics in Christendom, the Turin linen features an intricate twill weave. The newly found cloth is made up of a simpler two-way weave.

So basically the probability of the Shroud of Turin being a genuine artefact is very low.

Thought as much.

This is nonsense. Finding another burial cloth means nothing. Scripture says this:

When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:
58: He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.
59: And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,

So this is a cloth purchased by a rich man. It makes sense that it would be better quality than cloth used to bury a leper.

Of course it's fake. Any one that has read the Bible, whether they believe in the resurrection or not, will know that they wrapped the head of Jesus in a separate linen cloth to the one His body was wrapped in.

The fact the people and many Christians are still discussing whether or not it's real is testament to the fact that most of Christianity doesn't even read it's Bible.

In a previous discussion I mentioned several points raised over 35 years ago that suggest, strongly, that te Shroud is authentic. Among these were anatomical details, details that needed knowledge that was not known in the 13th century such as detals about the method of scourging, etc. Among the points made those many years ago was that there is no paint, or other such on the Shroud - the image is burned into the fabric.
Considering how little fabric from 2000 years ago has survved, the fact that one scrap does not match another i not surprising. In 2000 years if a Vera Wang survives and a bit of fabric from some Levi's survives, the existence of the on does not disprove the validity of the other. In the book on the Shroud that I used as a reference for my earlier comments pointing out the reasons for no declaring i a fraud the author states, wth rference if I remember, that the fabric o the Shroud is of a type well known to exist 2000 years ago.

I always find articles like this to show man's lack of wisdom. In the ultimate search of knowledge, man has somehow left Wisdom far behind.

So, you have one burial with someone in different linens than another one? So? Was your great great grandmother buried in the same outfit my great great grandmother was?

While I in no way claim or disclaim authenticity of any shroud (as I don't really care about a shrouds/relics). It is down right dumb to think every person was buried in the same clothing, even in ancient times.

The reason that Satan keeps trying to discredit the shroud is because it is authentic, and it validates the gospel accounts of the crucifiction AND the resurrection. It's totally in a different world from all religious relics. People who take the time to really study it are more awestruck the more they learn about it.
