"I work with the Bible in one hand and the tools of excavation in the other," Israeli archaeologist Dr. Eilat Mazar says. "The Bible is the most important historical source." Mazar, who is both revered and reviled by some of her colleagues for being a Biblical Archaeologist, says that the Bible is unquestionably the most important historical source for her work, since it contains a "genuine historical account of the past."

Dr. Mazar,
I have studied, read, observed ,and researched the site of the first and second Temple for many years, and I have come to the conclusion that the First and Second Temple are not located on the "Temple Mount", but further south closer to the Gihon Spring. The Temple sacrifices needed plenty of flowing water to wash away all the blood that was shed due to the great number of daily sacrifices.  The water had to flow!! and indeed it did down the Kidron Valley on to the Dead Sea.  The Gihon Spring provided such amount of free flowing water which was channeled up to the area of the Temple where many daily sacrifices were done.  Also see 1 Kings 1:33.  I believe that King David's Castle was very close to where the Temple was to be built at that time by his son Solomon, and close to the Gihon Spring on the crescent area called the Ophel, not on the Temple Mount where Herod built the Roman Fortress, (Aelia Capitolina).

Blessings, I think you're absolutelly correct and I'm with you on the fact that using the bible for your research is the best source of historical information available.

Dr. Mazar:
I take heart when I see an archaeologist of your caliber giving due credence to the Word of the living G-d.  I would that more in your discipline could hold to it in the same way.  I have no doubt that many doors will be opened to your relentless study of antiquities.  I only wish that I could be there to help you sift the rubble.
   May G-d bless your work!
