Petra: A place of wonder in the wilderness posted by Henry B. Smith Jr. MA

An Arab nomadic tribe known as the Nabateans built Petra, which became the ancient capital of the Nabatean kingdom from 9 B.C. to A.D. 40. Just last year, National Geographic named Petra as one of the "New Seven Wonders of the World." What took them so long?

Evolutionist: It’s ok to Deceive Students to Believe Evolution posted by Henry B. Smith Jr. MA

Evolutionist teacher advocates teaching kids outright falsehoods about evolution. Here are some quotes:

...those cutesy examples help them accept evolution, then it is OK if they keep some of those little inaccuracies for the rest of their lives. It is perfectly fine if they keep thinking that Mickey Mouse evolved as long as they think evolution is fine and dandy overall.

Yes, NOMA is wrong, but is a good first tool for gaining trust. You have to bring them over to your side, gain their trust, and then hold their hands and help them step by step. And on that slow journey, which will be painful for many of them, it is OK to use some inaccuracies temporarily if they help you reach the students.

Big Bang: A Theory in Crisis posted by Henry B. Smith Jr. MA

On 7–11 September 2008, about 50 dissident astronomers and physicists met at the Red Lion hotel in the quiet harbour town of Port Angeles, Washington, USA. They met to discuss problems facing the ‘big bang’ model of the structure and origin of the Universe, in the hope of one day developing a robust replacement that is not plagued with the problems the standard model faces.

Tomb of Sesostris II (1897–1878 BC) uncovered in Egypt posted by Henry B. Smith Jr. MA

Tomb of Sesostris (Senusret) II (1897–1878 BC) uncovered at Al-Lahun, Egypt. Sesostris II was likely the pharaoh whose dreams Joseph interpreted and who made Joseph a high official (Gen. 41). Although the announcement makes it sound like this is a new discovery, Flinders Petrie first excavated the tomb of Sesostris II in 1887–1888.

ABR staff archaeologist Gordon Franz just returned from his expedition with researcher and friend Bill Crouse to Mount Cudi, their candidate for the landing site of Noah's Ark in the region of ancient Urartu. ABR staff members Gordon Franz and Rick Lanser have spent considerable time and research with respect to Noah's Ark. There are two possible candidates ABR has identified within the region of Ararat. 1. Mount Cudi, a view held by Bill Crouse and ABR Staff Member Gordon Franz. 2. Mount Ararat, a view held by Rick Lanser, ABR Staff Member. Both views have significant merits, so we urge you to read the research and decide for yourself!

The Summer 2008 issue of Bible and Spade has an extensive article on the archaeological artifacts and data discovered in the region of Mt. Ararat in Turkey. To get this issue of Bible and Spade delivered to your door, click here: Summer 2008 Bible and Spade
